one of the other amazing birthday presents i received was this lunch box from a dutch company called oots, which is quite possibly one of the cutest things i have ever seen in my life. i really want to try too bring my lunch to work as much as possible, and this makes it fun to pack. it even has small tupperware inside for easy packing. adorable!

we got this poster on our way up to lake geneva from a wisconsin antique mall. it was hanging above the toilet in the men's bathroom. it's also already framed in a really cool raw wood frame. and for only $40, i think we did pretty well!

light up.

i am constantly on the search for a great table lamp.
here are a few of my favorites.

this beaut is from my all time favorite vintage store in the city - post 27. they have stunningly gorgeous mid-century wares, along with some really special new items. and the owners couldn't be sweeter. i smile just thinking about that store.


a sleek and simple option from design within reach. i've seen this little guy in person, and the picture really doesn't do it justice. it's really very unique.


this little gem is from etsy. i could spend hours pouring over that site, it is so easy to get lost looking at all the beautiful vintage and handmade things.



these are from white attic, an incredibly cool local business. there are a ton of lamp base, shade, color, and fabric options, and it's up to you to pick out the ones you like. isn't that genius? they also have refurbished vintage furniture.

cozy.

i have my eyes on this blanket for our guest bedroom. i love it's neutral colors and it would be great tucked over and under the back side of our futon. it's no surprise though, nearly everything from dwell studio is a winner in my book.

best train stops ever.

have you heard about this? for a new marketing campaign, ikea set up their furniture and accessories inside a number of paris metro stations. it lets people interact with their products without ever going in to a store. i think it's pretty ingenious. i would be so happy if i could sit on a comfy couch while waiting for the blue line (although i image they would get pretty nasty pretty quickly).

i usually put flowers in vintage ball jars, but how lovely are these porcelain ones from heyday design? i really want to try to keep fresh flowers in the apartment more this spring and summer,
they just make me happy.

pretty patterns.

i know it's been trendy for a while, but i just can't get over my love of wallpaper -it just adds so much personality to a space. i think it all started when my mom put leopard wallpaper all over the first floor bathroom of our home when i was in middle school. for a long time i thought it was too dramatic, but now i miss it. paul and i have incorporated some wallcoverings in to our apartment, with a beautiful bird and branches wallpaper in our bedroom, and some make-shift wallpaper (made out of pages from the dangerous book for boys) in our computer nook. here are some of my current favorites.


this beautiful color would be fantastic in a small entryway.
i would love to come home to a wall covered in this every day.


the drama of this one actually really reminds me of the leopard that was in our powder room. i love this type of bold pattern in a small space.


this charming paper is so lighty and airy. it would be beautiful in a dressing room, with racks of shoes and a vintage vanity.


quite possibly the brightest and most bold wallpaper to catch my eye! wouldn't it be perfect as an accent wall for a child's bedroom or playroom?


i think this romantic and cheery floral would be perfect for a bedroom. it's so retro and sunny.

a fine substitute.

i was heartbroken when domino folded a year and a half ago (or was it longer? i have no sense of time). it was the only magazine i subscribed to, and i loved it oh so much. and to then have my subscription replaced with glamour? c'mon, that just wasn't fair. but then, not too long ago, there was a beacon of hope.
enter lonny magazine, an online only publication that is a pretty solid stand in for domino. of course, i still miss holding a magazine in my hands, but this definitely makes the separation easier.
