we got this poster on our way up to lake geneva from a wisconsin antique mall. it was hanging above the toilet in the men's bathroom. it's also already framed in a really cool raw wood frame. and for only $40, i think we did pretty well!

j.crew has a near perfect fall shoe in stock right now. would you look at that beauty? good thing i just put myself on a shopping ban or i would be purchasing those right now. it's not that i want the summer to be over necessarily, but fall fashion sure is special.

mociun's jewelry is so subtle and interesting. i love that it steers clear of shapes that are too feminine or girly. it's just perfect.

absent minded.

i have been a bit absent from the blog the past few weeks, and i have only summer fun to blame!





on sunday night we were offered last minute tickets to the cubs game, and had an amazing time! wrigley field is really pretty cool. it's one of the last ballparks in the country whose scoreboard is still manually run (can you imagine how hot it would get up there??) we also happened to sit two rows behind vince vaughn which was kind of random and funny!






two days after that we went to six flag great america with our two friends who are (sad!) moving to north carolina tomorrow. i didn't get a ton of pictures that day, but it was so much fun. we rode roller coasters for almost 12 hours! i was absolutely exhausted by the time we got home.



and yesterday was 100% full of errands. the farmer's market in the morning and then hours of random things, including paul's trip to the dmv and oil change. it sounds like a bore, but it was actually a ton of fun. naturally, i fell asleep on the couch at 9pm, missing a friend's party. i was tired!

lake geneva

yesterday paul and i returned from a much needed and completely wonderful trip to lake geneva, wisconsin. we went with two of my very closest friends, and it was nothing short of perfect.




we made sure to stop at farms and antique stores as we drove up. the corn, cantaloupe, and strawberry rhubarb pie were super delicious.






our days were spent on the lake and pier, boating, tubing and swimming until we were exhausted.





and our evenings were full of yummy snacks and lazy board game playing.







the sunset from the pier was unbelievable.







on our second day there we walked along the lake to look at the gorgeous mansions that dot its shore. some of them you simply can't believe! there is also an incredible amount of absolutely charming 60's and 70's bungalows and cottages (which i much prefer...although these mansions are stunning).



i'm already itching to go back.

i have often kind of poked fun at people seen around own on folding bikes. i just thought they looked a little silly and inefficient. but now it seems as though i may be changing my tune. what caused this change of heart, you might ask? well, i'm reading bicycle diaries by david byrne, in which he chronicles his travels around the world and more specifically getting to know different cities by biking through them. ah ha! now i understand folding bikes! they could be the perfect thing to bring on trips with us! this is something i might have to seriously consider, as whenever i am somewhere new i without fail think longingly of my bike.

i can't get over how beautiful "swarm light" is. it is an installation piece that changes and reacts due to the viewer's audible presence. the viewer's are the ones who bring it to life.

my brother dante and his girlfriend monique will be in town for a couple of days, so i will be taking a little blogging break until next wednesday. so excited to do lots of walking, lots of eating,
and lots of laughing.

for a while now emersonmade has been turning out absolutely beautiful accessories (c'mon, get a load of that necklace), but now things are really heating up. she is debuting a line of clothing in early august! they look simply lovely, very classic and american.
i think the jeans are my favorite.
