outlier.

as the cooler weather approaches, i begin to think about gearing up for winter bike rides. i try to ride my bike as much as i can during the colder months. my cut off point is usually at about 25 degrees, sometimes a bit colder. the thing that really gets me is when it's all wet and slushy, that is just not all that fun. these outlier daily riding pants, however, could make those days a bit easier to handle. they are water resistant and super practical, but still handsome and wearable. i'm not sure if they are 100% necessary, but i do think they would be quite nice.

carry-on.

as i was biking to the farmer's market the other day i saw an adorable girl on an adorable bike with adorable panniers. she was super sweet as well, and while we couldn't chat much as we were only peddling in the same direction for a moment, she was kind enough to divulge where she had found such beauties. they are from the bicycle muse, a london based company. their website is full of other great bags and accessories for biking
(their blog is pretty addictive as well).

i have often kind of poked fun at people seen around own on folding bikes. i just thought they looked a little silly and inefficient. but now it seems as though i may be changing my tune. what caused this change of heart, you might ask? well, i'm reading bicycle diaries by david byrne, in which he chronicles his travels around the world and more specifically getting to know different cities by biking through them. ah ha! now i understand folding bikes! they could be the perfect thing to bring on trips with us! this is something i might have to seriously consider, as whenever i am somewhere new i without fail think longingly of my bike.
above are a few that caught my eye, all made by dahon.

safety first.

i already have a helmet i really like, a great little bern number. but is it wrong to want to switch it up? i mean, i wear that thing pretty much every day so it's natural to want a little variety, right?
these nutcase helmets, available at public, are among the coolest i've ever seen. i love that they have something going on but aren't over the top.

wanderlust.

i'm not entirely sure why, but copenhagen is one of my dream vacation destinations. a friend of mine just got back from a trip there, and i am experiencing some major jealousy. everyone on their bikes, with their blonde hair and chic clothes.
i just want to walk around that city with a cup of coffee and people watch all day long.

my baby.

isn't she pretty? she's a gary fisher simple city and i've loved every moment we've spent together. this winter i rode much more than last, and she did a great job in the cold and slush. now that spring is around the corner (right, chicago? tell me spring is around the corner) she is going to getting even more of a work out. and yes, i think helmets are cool.
