go hawks.

i am not a big sports fan, and certainly not a big hockey fan. but the chicago blackhawks just won the stanley cup! there is something undeniably cool about biking home from a packed bar to the sounds of people celebrating in the street. and small time fireworks put it over the top. everyone is so happy!
it's pretty contagious.

monster.

paul and i just went for a bike ride down to hubbard and noble to check out a little public art he passed by the other day. he wouldn't tell me exactly where we were going or what we were seeing, so the surprise was pretty cool. turning the corner and seeing this big guy was a fun highlight of the day. the sculpture is by tony tasset, a chicago based artist who has a lot of works in the mca exhibit going on right now, and who will have a giant eye ball erected in millennium park later this summer. we also ended up being there right as the owner of the gallery who put the work there, kavi gupta, was walking by. he was so nice and down to earth and we had a great little conversation with him about art, bikes, and other lovely things. it was a pretty great moment.

baggu.

i always thought baggu bags were practical, but not necessarily cooler than any other little tote. the new styles available have made me change my tune. i think i love the backpack the best, i have had a thing for casual backpacks ever since felicity. i always thought i wanted a leather one, but these canvas beauties are swaying me in a whole new direction.
the only question is which color to choose.

volume 2.

last night i went to millennium park to see the free she & him show. it was super crowded and i could officially see nothing, but it was still a really lovely night. they both sounded really great in person, and it was a gorgeous night. i had some serious chicago love when i was walking around downtown as well. of course i only snapped one picture, and it's not of the beautiful city skyline, but oh well. i have to get better about taking pictures!

light up.

i am constantly on the search for a great table lamp.
here are a few of my favorites.

this beaut is from my all time favorite vintage store in the city - post 27. they have stunningly gorgeous mid-century wares, along with some really special new items. and the owners couldn't be sweeter. i smile just thinking about that store.

a sleek and simple option from design within reach. i've seen this little guy in person, and the picture really doesn't do it justice. it's really very unique.

this little gem is from etsy. i could spend hours pouring over that site, it is so easy to get lost looking at all the beautiful vintage and handmade things.

these are from white attic, an incredibly cool local business. there are a ton of lamp base, shade, color, and fabric options, and it's up to you to pick out the ones you like. isn't that genius? they also have refurbished vintage furniture.

lovely.

charming and understated. rachel comey, you never fail.
available here.

cozy.

i have my eyes on this blanket for our guest bedroom. i love it's neutral colors and it would be great tucked over and under the back side of our futon. it's no surprise though, nearly everything from dwell studio is a winner in my book.
